Our first launch meeting held on 7th March 2020
During our launch meeting we shared the group vision to the Luton, Dunstable & Kenyan Surrounding Community.
This was a successful event, as we clearly stated that the vision is not for all but those that want to come together to ease one another’s burden, to celebrate achievements and reward ourselves.
We encouraged individuals to be part of our vision, to make a voluntarily contribution of £10 monthly. This was to make sure there is smooth planning of events with no favour or discrimination towards any members.
From the Chairlady
Luton, Dunstable & Surrounding Kenyan Community Forum, LDSKCF. Just want to say a big thank you for making our event successful.
Our guests were impressed with our LDSKCF youth speaker; Angel Munge who articulated herself so well & represented issues the youth face & how parents & professionals should consider to engage them.
Thank you once again for all those who attended, irrespective of where we come from our youth are our future leaders. We need to create more opportunities for them.
LDSKCF is now working with conjunction with other agencies to bring current concerns that impact on our children & parenting. As this will enhance our knowledge & we continue to be in the know how
Dear LDSKCF members
Our LDSKCF thanksgiving dinner event was a success because of your attendance, commitment & your monthly contribution.
A special heartfelt gratitude to the One I have come to trust, to look up to, to cry & seek. Our Heavenly Father God. You have been with us through this journey since the group started & up until now. You have taught me that we can never change people how they see things, but as a person I can only do my best & you will take care of the rest. God, when we started the planning of the event, there were so much backlashes but I allowed myself to trust you & trust the process. Thank you for always coming through as again God you truly surprised me.
I also want to acknowledge all those members that attended to present the group. Thank you for coming & dressing up for the occasion. You all looked lovely.
To our children, thank you for performing the Swahili Poem, this clearly demonstrates that our Swahili lessons are paying off. Taptap thank you once again for sponsoring Swahili.
To our youth we truly appreciate you. LDSKCF vision is to leave a blue print for you to follow through. Thank you for coming & enjoying the lovely event. Well done on grabbing the opportunity to share about yourselves. Some of you have been picked up to attend some events. Our aim is to create such opportunities & it’s for them to know how to utilise them & for sure they never let us down.
To LDSKCF admins, thank you for coming through with the planning & dedication. We had hiccups along the way, but as I said when God is seated on the throne He alone will execute the plans. Your hard work paid off. Let’s continue to put God first & He alone will do the rest.
To our VC thank you for assisting our entertainments set up at the venue; the 360 camera 🎥 & our dancers who really entertained our children, youth, members, guests & dignitaries. We also appreciate how you ushered in our guests.
To Mr Munge, thank you for always supporting our group coordinator with the drinks shopping for the events.
To our venue decorator Mwangi & your family of Kizuri Events, thank you for decorating the hall & assisting throughout. Your hard work & dedication never went unnoticed. Your decoration was elegant & made the hall look beautiful. Thank you for sponsoring the group with some of the decorations & May God reward you.
To our caterers; the Minae thank you for cooking such a lovely meal. We all enjoyed it & even carried takeaway. It is always nice to see families working together. For sure the food was cooked with so much love.
To our camera man who is always excited to work alongside the group, thank you so much for always coming through with more than 700 photos. We are finding a way to share them without overwhelming the group chat once we sort them out.
To our security company of the night; Cannon guards security thank you for making sure that everyone was safe & supported throughout the night.
To our lovely 4 ladies servers; Lisa & your group. Thank you for your professionalism & dedication. You took care of each one of us, by making sure our tables were clean & if we needed additional drinks.
To our sponsors Taptap & E-Humane whatever you gave us went along way & we were able to add & put entertainment in place for our members, youths & guests. Thank you so much.
To our special guests, Dallow Road Cllr Abbas, Deputy Luton Mayor; Cllr Ghulam Javed, Mayor of Dunstable Council; Cllr Gloria Martin, Town Mayor of Houghton Regis Town Council; Claire Copleston, The High Sheriff of Bedfordforshire; Eric Masih who was representing Her majesty the Queen & His Excellency Kenya High Commissioner Deputy Kamere, we appreciate them for embracing our event.
If I have not mentioned you on this platform, kindly accept our gratitude as you each played a big role at the event.
Our dignitaries were able to interact with our members. Our Kenyan High Commissioner Deputy Ambassador Kamere; pledged £1000 for the youth every year, Asante Sana. Mentorship programs were implemented for our youth. Our youth cannot stop expressing how just by interacting with them was such a beautiful thing.
I am not perfect & have learnt so much along the way, through my imperfections. Hence, my prayer to all, let us continue to leave in harmony, be kind to yourself & to others, always see the good thing in people before you judge one harshly, continue to believe in your vision as others will try to kill it to steal it.
You alone can make the difference & be that difference.
Have a blessed day
